Foods are often genetically modified to make them more resistant to disease, improve their nutritional value, or increase their ability to grow in different climate conditions. The Food and Drug Administration has approved the use of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) and regulates their use. There are some studies that show that these foods can be harmful to your health and our environment but there is a general scientific agreement that food from genetically modified crops is not inherently riskier to human health than conventional food.
While there is no widespread answer there are a few simple ways that will help you to notice the difference between the GMO and non-GMO. Non-GMO is the way to go.
GMO food is going to be more pleasant as far as cosmetics go. It will be the rounder, juicier looking, shinier, more appealing fruit and veggies you’re going to see in the supermarket. As people none of us are exactly the same, this is a known law of nature. Someone is always going to be taller then you or shorter than you. This can be applied to fruit and veggies as well. Real veggies and fruits show many different signs that will let you know they are alive. You can thump a tomato that seems too perfect and if it bruises a bit chances are it’s not GMO. Try to aim for fruits and veggies that aren’t perfect. They’ll be just as delicious i promise, and way healthier as well. Avoiding supermarkets altogether is probably the best solution though, honestly.
Buying from farmers who grow their foods themselves and also ensuring you only pick fruit and veggies that are not perfect will ensure you’re getting completely GMO-free foods. If you must buy from the store though, be sure to avoid expensive looking pretty packaging and go for something simple. GMO food makes more profit and can afford the more flashy packaging to try and draw in more customers.
Be sure to educate yourself as well not only on GMOs in the U.S. but GMOs coming from other countries as well. Other countries have different laws and regulations on this sort of thing than we do. If you gather information from the news and online you will quickly find out about whether the things you may be getting in or from these countries and whether they are GMO or not.

The workers in Monsanto are not and won’t eat their products yet somehow they expect us to? How sickening. Keep your eyes open for things in the stores you buy from and remember that GMO food is pretty inexpensive but will be packaged expensively and seem more appealing. Also usually when you find things that aren’t in season in stores you buy from just about all year round that means that the product is being imported or being developed in nurseries therefore it is probably made from GMO. Just keeping these things in mind will help you and your health in the long run. If the people from Monsanto themselves won’t eat their GMO products why should we?
